Grantland dicusses one of my favorite movies growing up. I don’t agree with alot of the commentary but I still like that they realize how great this movie was.
I went to Africa and all I got were these pictures
Anonymous asked: I understand what you stand for, and I find the captions humorous, but what about people who genuinely care? Or those who just want to travel and see the world. Okay, maybe they don't have to take a million pictures like these but still. I feel like any white person who visits a country in Africa will, in your mind, be seen as something negative.
This blog isn’t to shame anyone who is interested in lending a helping hand (or dollar) to ANYONE, anywhere, but the prevalence of these pictures that have exactly the same theme over and over (i.e. little black Africans holding a camera! showing everyone how much you care by changing your profile picture to you and a baby orphan!, etc) is more than a little offensive to the people who live in Africa’s 54 countries. It’s also not a widespread denunciation of white people; people of any race can misunderstand or make assumptions about Africa, but the majority of the pictures that are sent to us are of white-presenting individuals. Be sensitive about what pictures you post, and don’t be dumb about what you’re actually doing.
